1. Apa itu Countable Noun?

Countable noun adalah kata benda yang bisa dihitung satu per satu, punya bentuk tunggal dan jamak.

I have one book. She has three books.

Saya punya satu buku. Dia punya tiga buku.

Contoh lain: chair/chairs, student/students, idea/ideas, city/cities.

2. Apa itu Uncountable Noun?

Uncountable noun (mass noun) adalah kata benda yang tidak dihitung satuan — ia dipandang sebagai satu massa/konsep, bukan unit terpisah. Tidak punya bentuk jamak, dan tidak bisa didahului "a/an" atau angka langsung.

I need information. ~~I need an information / two informations.~~

Saya butuh informasi.

Kategori umum uncountable noun:

Cairan & zat: water, oil, coffee, rice, sugar
Abstrak: information, advice, knowledge, happiness, honesty
Kelompok/koleksi: furniture, equipment, luggage, money, traffic
Bidang studi & fenomena alam: mathematics, weather, research

3. Cara Menghitung Uncountable Noun

Kalau tetap ingin menghitung uncountable noun, gunakan satuan pembanding (unit of measurement), bukan langsung angka:

Perhatikan: "many" dan "much" sering diuji di soal error identification — "much" harus diikuti uncountable, "many" harus diikuti countable jamak.

There was a light in the window (sebuah lampu) vs There wasn't much light in the room (cahaya).
